She has volunteered for the Guardian AD Litem program and Hospice for several years. Danielle's vision for the future is to work with the association in ensuring a safe community; to encourage each homeowner to maintain and upkeep the appearance of their property, and to plan events fostering a more vibrant community spirit.

Admin writes: Dear Friends and Neighbors:
I hope this letter finds you and your families in good health.
This year, I have been appointed by the Board of Directors to head up the nominating committee for the 2009 Board of Directors for the Jacaranda Country Club Homeowner’s Association. This might seem a bit strange since I am the acting President of the Association but I have decided not to seek re-election. It has been my pleasure to serve the community as part of the Board of Directors for the past 13 years but my current schedule does not provide me with the time I believe necessary to devote to the Board. I also believe that it is time to get some new members involved, and along with them, new ideas on how to make our community a better place to live.
Additionally, at this time, for their own personal reasons, three (3) other members of the current Board have also decided not to seek positions on the 2009 Board of Directors. They also wanted to express to you how much they have enjoyed serving their community and look forward to staying involved in making our neighborhood a great place to live.
This presents a great opportunity to those of you who have wanted to get more involved with Board but for one reason or another have not. While it is true that every year all five positions on the Board of Directors are open, we have not had a large number of new people seeking positions on the Board. One of the reasons may have been their hesitancy in running against members of the current Board. This year, that should not be a concern since at least four of the current Board members are not seeking re-election.
Therefore, I request any of our members who wish to have their name placed on the ballot for the 2009 Board of Directors contact me at 954-915-8120 or e-mail me at DLeskar@aol.com with their intention to run along with a biography which will be sent out with the ballots. The biography should include a statement of your future vision for our community. Please submit your intention and biography by December 1, 2008 as we would like to get the ballots out by the first week in December. I urge you all to consider putting your name on the ballot. I believe you will find serving your community a rewarding experience.
Finally, I urge all of you to attend the annual meeting which is scheduled to be held on January 13, 2008 at 7:30PM (location yet to be determined) when the new Board will discuss issues involving our neighborhood in much greater detail. I wish you and your families the healthiest and happiest of holiday seasons and New Year. Please don’t hesitate to contact me by telephone at 954-915-8120 or by e-mail at DLeskar@aol.com with any questions or concerns.

While renewing my Flood Insurance I did some research relating to lowering my premium which is currently at $1,060 for $250,000 coverage. I spoke with Lu from Plantation Engineering Department who told me that almost all of Plantation should be paying approximately $300-$400 range for $250,000 Flood Insurance Coverage, and that the guidelines were set up by the Federal Agency (FEMA). It is all determined by an Elevation Certificate which is an embossed document that you would receive from a Land Surveyor who makes the necessary technical measurements and takes pictures of your house. Lu recommended three Land Surveying Companies to receive quotes. A couple of days after I called them two of these companies called me back with quotes for the Certificate. They were charging $150 and $175. I asked if other neighbors and HOA members were also to need Elevation Certificates produced for their residences might we get a group discount, and the two companies each agreed depending on the number or homeowners that were interested in proceeding. Plantation Engineering told me that any new construction permits requires one to have this certificate as well as if you ever sell your home.
If you or any of your friends or neighbors might be interested in getting an Elevation Certificate, please leave me a message. I will be getting back in touch with the two Land Surveyors that I spoke with to see who will offer us the least expensive price once I know how many people are interested in doing this. Thank you for your time.

PLANTATION. The city's planning and zoning board unanimously rejected a request to put about 230 condos at the Jacaranda Country Club golf course on Tuesday night but neighbors said Wednesday their battle may not be over.
The board voted 7-0 to reject a land-use amendment that would have allowed multifamily units to be built in the heart of the 36-hole, semi-private golf course that surrounds an upscale neighborhood of single-family homes. The vote is a recommendation to the city council, which will consider the amendment at a future meeting.
