A Developer Wants to Build Condos and Townhouses in our Neighborhood
On Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at 7:00 PM at Plantation City Hall, located 400 Northwest 73 rd Ave., Plantation, FL, a public hearing will be held concerning our neighborhood. We need YOU to show-up at this hearing and voice your disapproval for this rezoning. Why?
The owner of Jacaranda Golf Club, Scratch Golf Co., is asking the City of Plantation to rezone 14.3 acres from commercial to residential. Their objective is to build five (5), five (5) story multi-family buildings with two (2) story parking garages on the old tennis court site and the 19th hole. Additionally, they want to build twenty (20) townhouses. They will close our main road at the 19th hole. By doing this, our quiet neighborhood would turn into a traffic nightmare. Also, the Golf Club wants to change the current “3 units per acre to 25 units per acre.” This would increase our traffic, noise level and crime rates. Their plan is to build 250 multi-family units in our own backyards! There is little doubt that this would decrease our individual home values.
Also, the Golf Club proposes to build a supply of “affordable housing.” Did we buy our homes to live near transient apartments and two-story parking garages?
With their proposed rezoning, they will add over 1,243 additional cars to our neighborhood everyday. Our nice, quiet community becomes a freeway! The Jacaranda Golf Club wants this rezoning to happen because they are focused on their bottom line profits, at the expense of our 30+ year old neighborhood.
We are asking you to come to the public hearing at 7PM on Tuesday, October 2, at City Hall, 400 NW 73d Avenue , Plantation . History has shown that a really large turnout at public hearings produces better results. Let’s show the City and the Developer that we will not allow construction vehicles to plague our streets for years to come. We do not want our properties devalued. We don’t want higher crime rates in our neighborhood. We don’t want to look out our windows and see highrise buildings. We don’t want more traffic in our neighborhood. We don’t want our children hurt by speeding cars. We need City Hall to hear our voices and to vote “NO” to this rezoning. Please support your neighborhood, your neighbors and your family’s future. By you and your neighbors showing up, the Zoning Board will see that we oppose this proposal. Support your neighborhood! Collectively, we CAN make a difference!

Enjoy a great afternoon of music, food, refreshments and fun at the parklet on North Lake Dasha Drive. This will be a special year for our picnic as we commemorate the park to our long time President Charles Profilet. Please contact Mike Sebero or Dave Milani if you would like to volunteer to help in the preparation of the picnic.
